Blackberry And Thorn

Tangled brambles dripping
With heavy blackberries
Ripened in the sunshine
Of  happy memories
I taste one to savor
The flavor of the juice
Cut myself on sharp thorns
The memory of abuse
Oh, those bittersweet
Half-ripe blackberries
Tempting me to reach
Through thorns to set them free

  1. So vivid and intensely beautiful, even in its pain. I like the shape of it as well as the subtle rhyming.
Often we need to pass through the painful moments to make rich, pleasant memories. Rarely is life purely happy, or purely sad!
